Linotype Helvetica underwent significant changes to accommodate Linotype's hot metal line casters, making it a modified version of the original Neue Haas Grotesk. It appears to resemble the "band of reality" font, which is reminiscent of the free download for Neue Haas Grotesk Display 95 Black font.
For instance, the matrices for Regular and Bold had to be of equal widths, and therefore the Bold was redrawn at a considerably narrower proportion.
