With “Diogene”, Renzo piano and his structure office Renzo piano constructing workshop have advanced a dwelling unit which unites all primary features of a temporary dwelling under one roof in a modest dwelling area of six square meters. As the modern-day interpretation of an archaic cabin, “diogene” is the smallest constructing of the architectural ensemble in Weil am Rhein. The building is called after the historical Greek logician Diogenes of Sinope ("Diogenes di Sinope" in Italian) who is stated to have lived in a barrel because he considered worldly luxuries to be superfluous.
Renzo piano has ended up the latest high-profile architect to add a constructing to the Vitra campus in Weil am Rhein, Germany, by using finishing a tiny wood cabin with room for only an unmarried inhabitant.
